Reflecting on Match Day: Why it’s Always Invigorating

In my career, I’ve been through probably 50 Match Days but as associate dean for students here at Einstein I’ve been through five. Every year is a new thrill when you see people who’ve you grown very close to do so well.

We’re very happy in the Dean’s office. The students this year have done exceedingly well. We matched at some of the most prestigious places in the country and those who were not out for prestige, by and large, did very well and matched where they wanted to.

Overseeing this process is like being a perpetual parent. It has all the problems of being a parent and all of the joys of being a parent – so this is a very parentally enjoyable day. We love to see our students succeed. It is the culmination of lots of work on their part, some work on our part and we’re extremely happy with the result.

    Dear Dr. Baum ,
Thank you for taking such good care of our daughter Evanthia for the past 7 years. It’s hard to believe she is done. She has always spoken with such respect and affection of you. We look forward to seeing you at graduation.
    Best Wishes,
    Ted and Paula Roussos
